Basketball Heads into Big Games

Posted on February 27, 2020 by Welton Diggs

We have a lot to discuss in terms of fantasy basketball. NBA is hitting its final stretch of the season. This is the time where players who want to shine and help their team make the playoffs come out. You have to find those players with good value and add them to your fantasy lineup.

Today we will discuss some of these players and how you can use them to your advantage when making your fantasy lineups.

We like to use the site Draftkings for our NBA daily fantasy sports. If you have any questions about Draftkings you can always ask in that contact form. They’re striving to make their platform even better through the years and will hopefully make your usage a winning one.

Let’s get into some NBA pics and who you should consider for your lineups going forward.

We think teams on the bubble of making the playoffs will help you win your next fantasy game. Teams we’ll look at in the Eastern conference are the Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic, and Washington Wizards. All of these teams are fighting for a spot in the six, seven, eight area. A few players to mention will possibly help you pick up a nice win.

The Indiana Pacers have been playing pretty well and are most likely going to end up in the six seed. The other teams mentioned above are several games behind the Pacers.

Players such as T.J. Warren should be considered in your forward or flex position. He is getting almost 30 minutes per game and his price level provides pretty good value for the number of points and rebounds. You can expect him to keep battling for position and hopefully help you get nice value in the forward position.

In the guard position for the Indiana Pacers we like Malcolm Brogdon. He has been playing quite well and is averaging almost 30 minutes per game. We see him stepping up to help the Pacers clinch their playoff position.

With Kyrie Irving out of the lineup for the rest of the season, the Brooklyn Nets are going to look towards Spencer Dinwiddle. This guard is averaging around 26 minutes per game and producing 13 points and about five assists per game. Spencer will help you get some value out of the guard position when you match him up with higher-end players.

The Orlando Magic have been playing quite well lately and will most likely clinch the last position in the playoffs. You can look for DJ Augustin in the guard position. He averages around 25 minutes a game and should give you some nice stats to fill in as a secondary guard or flex position.

The Washington Wizards have been struggling all year but they might be able to make a quick run to catch the Orlando Magic. Obviously players like Bradley Beal might be in your lineup but when he is not you may want to consider players like Rui Hachimura. He is really shined as a rookie and will possibly be an All-Star in the next couple of years.

We will continue to look at multiple NBA players going forward. We hope you can get some value out of these pics and consider these guys when you’re in a tough position filling a roster spot. Good luck in your next game and we look forward to hearing how you’re doing.

Looking at Some Old NBA Games

Posted on May 25, 2016 by Welton Diggs

Friday night is a big night in the NBA as there are a large number of games to choose from as you choose your daily fantasy basketball rosters. Here’s a quick breakdown of a few of the more highly hyped games, and how you should approach choosing players from these games to fill up your roster.

Golden State Warriors @ Boston Celtics

The Warriors are the team to beat this year, and their 23-0 record is a testament to that. However, the Celtics are not a bad team, having gone 13-9 so far, and although they are not the favorites, this could be a very good game.

The obvious daily fantasy pick from this one is Golden State’s point guard, Stephen Curry. He’s leading the NBA in scoring with 32.2 points per game. He is also averaging 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game. The drawback to him is that he’s going to be the most expensive player of the weekend. There’s merit to going this way, of course, as he is likely to keep rolling forward like he’s been doing all season. You will pay a ton to get him, but he will produce. If you are looking for a great defensive player with some scoring upside, Draymond Green is the one to go with. He is a great forward with 8.5 rebounds per game and 7.0 assists. He’s not the greatest basket thrower with an accuracy rate of 466.0 percent, but he does have 13.0 points per game, which is promising.

Boston’s top scorer is Isaiah Thomas. The point guard is putting up 21.0 points per game this season, and 6.3 assists. He’s having a very good season, but against a powerhouse like Golden State, he could end up being on the low side of this number. It’s realistic to expect 15-18 points from him, though, and depending on what his price is in your respective league, he could be a good addition.

Los Angeles Lakers @ San Antonio Spurs

The Lakers are struggling this season at 3-19, where the Spurs are almost the exact opposite at 18-5. The Lakers are big underdogs here, and there’s a few good reasons why. One, they have the inferior record. Two, they have an aging team without the younger talent in place to replace them. And three, the Lakers are away for this one. Honestly, it’s probably best to completely avoid using a Lakers player on your roster for Friday, unless you have holes in your roster and need someone very cheap. Kobe Bryant is the team leader in scoring with 15.9 points per game, but because of his name alone, he’s going to be over priced. Be cautious if you decide to go with an LA player. If you can get tickets to the Lakers against the Spurs, that may be worth it. At lease you’ll see some stars in action.

San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard is the top scorer on his team. The GF has been having stomach issues though, and it’s not clear whether or not he will play Friday. He might be a gametime decision, and if he does play, there’s no guarantee he will be in top shape. It’s probably best to stay away from him for this one, unless you can find an unlikely cheap salary price on him. The next best choice is to go with LaMarcus Aldridge. The FC has been averaging 15.4 points per game, which isn’t great, but his defensive stats make him a top fantasy choice at this position. He has 8.8 rebounds per game right now, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals. He could have a better than average game if Leonard is out or underperforms again. He has a lot more upside for this game than normal, so he could be a good choice, especially if you have an opening on your roster and he is one of the few you’ve narrowed your last slot down to. It’s a gamble, but you have a slight edge on this pick given the circumstances.

College Football Recap

Posted on January 4, 2016 by Welton Diggs

Week 11 of college football season is over, and it was an exciting Saturday of games. For those of you that play daily fantasy college football, hopefully you had picked up some of the standouts from the weekend. Let’s take a quick look at a few of the bigger games and see which players were the biggest standouts.

Utah at Arizona

This was probably the biggest upset of the weekend. The Utah Utes were the #10 ranked team in the country, and they ended up losing, 30-37, to the Arizona Wildcats, an unranked team. The game went into double overtime, and the tiebreaker was a touchdown thrown by Arizona’s backup quarterback, Jerrard Randall. It was his only pass of the night. Regular QB, Anu Solomon, had three touchdowns on the night.

California Chrome to Return

Posted on July 27, 2015 by Welton Diggs

In 2014, California Chrome won the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and then finished fourth at the Belmont Stakes because of an injury. The bone bruise injury sidelined him for months, and there was speculation that his career was completely over. Some rumors of euthanasia even began to swirl. However, it was just recently announced by trainer Art Sherman that California Chrome will be returning to racing sometime in 2016. At that point, Chrome will be a five year old, and reaching the prime of his career.

The 2014 Horse of the Year has a big challenge up before it, though.

Taking in the Action

Posted on March 23, 2015 by Welton Diggs

Right now is the best time to get great odds on an underdog World Series champion. The season hasn’t yet begun, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t valuable information that you can use to give yourself an edge when it comes to preseason betting on Major League Baseball. There are a number of resources that you can and should look to to figure this out with a higher degree of success than others.

First, look to last year. Which teams did well, and which did not? There are usually many reasons given for these attributes, so you need to figure out if there will be consistency. For example, the San Francisco Giants won it all last year, but will they have the same resources in 2015 to do it again? Hunter Pence just broke his arm, and as he was a major part of getting to the playoffs last year, there’s a strong chance the team will be negatively influenced. This is just one example, but many more could be cited for any team.

You can also look at how preseason games are going.
